The Art Shop
A Swedish, impressionist oil on timber painting, depicting a market scene by the River Seine in Paris, almost 100 years ago.
The painting presents three figures browsing books, including a dapper man in a top hat and a couple clothed in complimentary olive and caramel fabrics. In the near distance a stylish, Parisian women walks her dog.
A nuanced palette of varying earthy and pastel shades with touches of black, bring this painting to life, while the incredibly intricate brush stokes provide a meticulous feel and beautiful texture.
The artwork is presented beautifully in a new, double frame, giving the painting an incredible presence. The internal frame is a lightly textured, wooden insert in a warm cream that compliments the artwork colours perfectly, while the outer, more prominent frame has a moulded edge and softly marbled appearance.
The age, condition and overall effect of the artwork and frame make this a very special piece.

A Swedish, oil on panel painting, depicting a charming village on the Spanish island of Mallorca.
The palette consists of soft earthy hues in olive, caramel, cream, dusky pink, blues and greys. Colours that would work so well in both warm and cool toned interior schemes.
The texture of the brush strokes and the rolling hills provide a sense of softness, while the more geometric architectural elements contrast with this beautifully.
The artwork is presented so perfectly in the original frame, which is in wonderful condition. A timber mount painted in a warm, pale stone is housed within a raw oak frame with a stunning patina. This gives the illusion of a double frame, which adds to the incredible overall aesthetic of this piece.

A Swedish, oil on panel painting, depicting an incredibly beautiful still life of a rounded vase, generously filled with poppies.
The palette is a stunning combination of rich, warm shades ~ earthy pink, burnt orange, faded burgundy and buttery yellow, giving the overall feeling of an exquisite sunrise. Olive green leaves and a cornflower blue vase balance out the warmth, while touches of French navy and black provide a striking contrast that lifts the whole painting.
The differing heights of the flowers, combined with both upright and softly nodding poppies bring the painting to life.
The artwork is presented beautifully in a new, solid timber frame. A generous, moulded design that has enough presence to house such a striking piece of art. Painted in a deep grey/blue to compliment the colours of the artwork perfectly and a versatile shade, which would work in both traditional and modern interiors.
